I love to support local farmers.  Often, you get organic produce picked only a few days ago and you don’t have to pay the price for the USDA organic certification.  We are very loyal to Elmer.  He sets up shop less than 1/2 a mile from our house.  He is a beekeeper as well as a farmer and he says the bees keep away the pests, so he doesn’t have to use pesticides.  We buy all of our potted fresh herbs from Elmer, local honey and eggs.

We support others at our farmer’s market as well.  We love to eat the falafel sandwiches when the organic Greek farmers as well as swiss chard or baklava.  We always stop by the lemonade stand.  Sometimes, she uses Meyer lemons, adds fresh local strawberries or blueberries she picks herself.  A delicious, refreshing treat on a hot Saturday afternoon!

Worth every sip!

You’ll find coffee, spices, pies, Sno Cones and my personal favorite, freshly made tamales!

There’s no shortage of breads, and other treats.  My son, Andrew is particularly partial to the soft pretzels!

My Dad bought some of the deepest red and largest Roma tomatoes he says he has ever seen and he is a farmer, himself.

Just wait until I go to the farmer’s markets on 30A!
