The word seaside alone, awakens a sense of relaxation and conjures up thoughts of excitement, pleasure and magnificent beauty.  This place on 30A, is no exception.

With beaches all along the 18.5 miles of scenic 30A,  Seaside is one of my favorite spots.  The kids are thrilled to run free in the large open grassy field beneath the amphitheater and a freshly squeezed lemonade from Modica Market brings a smile to little faces.

This beach community seems to be another world.  Among the gorgeous beach homes and unique shops, you’ll find breath-taking beaches and of course, incredible up-scale restaurants.   Tender lobster rolls, shrimp and smoked gouda grits, pizzas from Bud & Alley’s, loaded with fresh ingredients like arugula, fresh mozzarella, pancetta, swiss chard, honey, basil and Pecorino…oh my! I haven’t even mentioned the stone crab claws you can savor while watching the sunset atop the Bud & Alley’s fine-dining restaurant.

Oh, did I tell you about the food trucks?

The grilled cheese truck sells to die for Brie and bacon on cranberry walnut bread and roasted tomato soup.  There’s a hot dog truck that sells all beef dogs, a big hit when my nephews visit, spring rolls from the Korean food truck, BBQ and my personal favorite, Raw & Juicy, featuring organic smoothies, salads and sandwiches recommended in Southern Living magazine and highlighted as a “Top 10 Juice Bar” by USA today.

Seaside isn’t paying me to write this, but they should.  I could go on and on about all the fabulous shops, foods and events found here and Seaside only scratches the surface of cool venues on 30A.

We actually visited Seaside on Saturday for the farmer’s market.  Seaside and Rosemary provide the cream of the crop when it comes to farmer’s markets.

This time around we bought some Persimmons and microgreens.  Of course, the kids were going to die from thirst as soon as they got wind of the fresh lemonade being sold, so we bought that too. A little mimosa for mommy and a brewski for daddy and all the complaining and whining evaporates into the salty air.

These guys sell the BEST Kombucha I’ve ever tasted. Nothing you buy in the store compares to this.  Stop in to their place adjoining Mr. Surf’s surf shop on the beach for an amazing cafe mocha with black salt and an açaí bowl. Or try my personal favorite, the avocado toast! The Best Thing on Sliced Bread Since Sliced Bread

We topped our day off with a lovely lunch at Chiringo, Grayton Beach.  I ran six miles at 4:30 that morning so, I admit it…I ate a cheeseburger.  Yep!  It was divine!  With bright slices of tomatoes, caramelized onions and plantains as a side, this was a treat!

*something you may not know: microgreens are seedlings of vegetables and herbs harvested less than 14 days after germination.  Researchers have shown microgreens to be 4-40 fold more compact with nutrients than their full-grown fellows.  Packed with vitamins C, E and beta-carotene, they are a must-try addition to salads, atop grilled fish and compliment to burgers or chicken salad sandwiches.

Here’s a bit:  there is more potassium in 1/2 cup of cooked squash than in 1 medium sized banana!
