Week 4: The One Thing Challenge

Can you believe we’re here?  In just 7 days, you will have done at least 4 super simple things to improve your health!  I am fired up about this one.  It is going to make you feel SO much better!  It may help you eat less, it will make your skin look better.  It may reduce fatigue and headaches.  It’s free, it’s easy and it is something you can do!

I just love telling you guys things you can do and eat instead of things you can’t do.  Isn’t that mentally and emotionally easier to wrap your head around?  Thinking of the things you can do or have is far less overwhelming isn’t it?!

Here it is friends:

Drink eight glasses of water every day!!

This may be harder for some than others.  I know what many of you are thinking; “It will make me have to go to the bathroom too often!”  If you are not accustomed to drinking this much water, it probably will.  However, I can assure you that you’re body will adjust to its glorious new hydration status that it so desperately craves.  I can also promise you without a shadow of doubt, you will feel so much better, you won’t even care that you have to make more frequent trips to the lou!

Tips that will help you accomplish this goal:

  • Download a free water app on your phone.  I’m going to try ‘Replenish Your Body’.  This app allows you to plug in your weight (kg or lb) and provides exactly the amount of water you need every day (ml or oz).  The Tips section provides some excellent information about the various ways getting enough water helps your body.
  • Get a fancy glass, cup or water bottle that you love to look at.  This is my new fave and it comes in many colors (also blue, black and gray which are not shown here)!

  • Purchase a 64 ounce cup.  Fill it in the morning and plop it down on your desk at work and you won’t need to bother keeping up with how much you’ve had or need.
  • Allow yourself a treat when you meet your goal, such as a small piece of chocolate, a trip to the movies, purchasing a book you’ve been wanting to read, a new bottle of nail polish or a small gadget or tool you’ve had your eye on.

This would be so fun to fill with different fruit slices and sometimes herbs…I’m actually going to order one of these.  The whole family will be drinking more water!

This will be such a useful challenge for me and you as well!  As always, I will be taking this challenge on myself and I’m excited about it!  When I was working, I drank loads of water.  Once I became a stay-at-home-mom, forget it!  I think I have probably taken in half of the daily H2O my body needs and those are good days!

If you have not yet taken on a challenge, I encourage you to catch up on the last 3!  Aim for committing to Week 1 and 2 for the next 7 days and Week 2 and 3 the next 7 days, and so on.

Q:  I hate plain water.  Does it count if use flavor add-ons?

A:  Yes, it counts!  I often use Crystal Light Pure made with Stevia to flavor my water.  I am not a huge fan of artifical sweeteners, but I believe getting adequate amounts of fluid will help elimate any compounds our bodies don’t need.   You can also flavor your water,  adding tons of vitamins and cancer-fighting chemicals by smashing berries and adding them to water!

Q:  What about other liquids?  Do they count?

A:  Techically, you may count other liquids.  I am choosing not to count those other beverages and provide my body with pure water.  If you decide you want to count other liquids, choose beverages with no caffeine and no artificial coloring, such as Blue 1 and 2, Yellow 5 and 6 and Red 40.  If you would like to read more about food dyes, click the following link:

    1. I think Weight Watchers is a good weight loss program bc it doesn’t eliminate any food groups but teaches you how to stay within a calorie limit.

Thank you for reading and for your comment!! I wish you the best on you weight watchers journey!

  1. I used to hate drinking water, about 15 years ago. Then I just forced myself to drink, and I’m hooked. In fact, it has to be ice water – even in the winter, which supposedly isn’t as good as tepid, but hey. At least I drink water!!!

      1. As soon as I realize I forgot my water when I’m in the car, I suddenly feel like my mouth is so dry, I can’t swallow!

Thanks for reading my post! I would love to have your feedback, suggestions or answer any questions you have! Please leave your comments!!
