Pasta carbonara with salad and maybe some diced beets and organic grape tomatoes for the little one since he isn’t a big fan of raw lettuces….yet. I use Romano cheese and egg along with a little pasta water for the sauce. I do not use any heavy cream and quite honestly, cream in carbonara is just too heavy for me! Prescription from a professional: substitute low-fat or skim milk for half-and-half or heavy cream in most recipes. Try using half the butter in an entree, vegetable or side dish. Choose reduced-fat cheese or sour cream to replace the whole fat version. *something you may not know: kids need to try foods at least 14 times or more before they are able to decide if they like it or not. Get your kids involved in planning and preparing meals and they will be more likely to eat the meals they helped prepare.
